This is a stunner .A Beswick Huntswoman astride a dapple grey gloss horse Model nos 1730 …smartly dressed for the hunting day ahead…..It is in perfect vintage condition although to be completely accurate I am not 100% sure that the white hoof in picture 9 is just very slightly shorter than the rest !although really it makes no difference!…she still stands perfectly on my holey table !and in all probability has been like that since production .
It was designed by Arthur Gredington -available only between 1960-1995 in this colourway.
Standing 8.25 inches high(21 cm) I love both the horse and Huntresses alert look and beautiful turn out.And this is a particularly well painted dapple grey horse!
Hunting was an intricate part of British Country life for generations but now it is very much on the decline in the UK mainly because of animal right concerns( although some still think it was the kindest way to control foxes). It is still legal to follow a drag trail with hounds so the sight has not completely disappeared.
It was an iconic British sight -hounds in full cry and a colourful band of followers and this lady in her black riding habit captures the elegance and history of the era.Overall a beautifully modelled , interesting ,collectible display piece from the Beswick Stable.
